The Information Center appears in the Kittanning Paper on Page 2 daily and are featured daily on WTYM AM 1380 radio. It promotes events held by non-profit organizations only. Notices are run as “space available” each day, unless an ad is purchased to guarantee placement. If you would like to place an ad, call the KP office at 724-543-NEWS (6397).

FREE CAMP – Applications are now being accepted for the 2017 Camp Cadet Program. It is scheduled from July 23-28 at Lenape Tech on Chaplin Avenue. Applications must be submitted by June 1, 2017. Registration is open to boys and girls, ages 12-15. Youth attending the camp stay in the care of State Police officers and civilian counselors. During the week, they are introduced to various law enforcement agencies. Applications or a post card with the applicant’s name, address, date of birth, municipality of residence, parents’ name and telephone number should be sent to: Camp Cadet Director, PA State Police, 130 Parkview Drive Ext., Kittanning, PA 16201. SCHOLARSHIP The Kiwanis Club of Kittanning will present a $1500.00 scholarship to a deserving high school senior in the Armstrong School District.  Scholarship description and application is available at their school’s guidance office.  Along with the application, the student must submit an essay explaining why you chose to  attend college and outline your need for this scholarship.  You must also provide a letter of reference from a non-relative.

FREE MEAL St. Paul’s Episcopal Church 112 N. Water St. Kittanning will be serving a free dinner to the public on April 29th from 4p.m. to 5 p.m. sponsored by St. Paul’s kitchen crew doors will open at 3:45 p.m.

STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL The Worthington Presbyterian church on Linton Ave will hold it’s annual strawberry festival on Saturday April 29 from 4 to 7pm. A variety of food and desserts will be available.

FOAM PARTY  Fundraiser for Autism Awareness at Radioactive Events Center,  227 Market Street Kittanning, on Sunday, April 30, from 1pm-4pm.  $10 admission fee, food & beverages will be available for purchase.  Also, tickets will be available to purchase for Chinese auction.  Items include crafts (wreaths, centerpieces, etc.), blankets, POSH basket, kid’s baskets, lottery ticket basket, and more!  There will also be a separate raffle for a beautiful handmade quilt. Some individual items will be sold.  Come out and bring the kids for a fun time dancing in the bubbles!!  Benefits Autism Speaks on behalf of the team, Oliver & Nate’s Au-some Army.

ACT DINNER THEATER – Armstrong Community Theater proudly presents their annual mystery dinner theater “Fishin’ for Trouble”. There will be two evening performances April 28,29 at 7pm, and one matinee Sunday April 30, 1pm at the Worthington Civic Center. Our local talent brings this hilarious fishy tale alive or should I say dead, served with a tasty buffet meal that will make your mouth water. The scene is set at the annual gala fundraiser for the International Feed the Whales Foundation! Tonight you’ll meet former TV star Sally Crouthers, head of the  Foundation; her husband Peter St. Croix, CEO of Pirate Pete’s Frozen Fish Sticks; Countess Stella de Marina, the chief benefactor; Capt. Dick Rudder, owner of the official Feed the Whales boat; and Dr. Myrna Fluke, famous whaleologist. You’ll also be treated to some music and dancing. But wait! Are deadly undercurrents lurking  beneath the festive atmosphere? Keep your eyes and ears open, because someone will meet their demise tonight–and it’s up to you to solve the crime. Tickets are $20 and are available at the Quality Inn Royle (Kittanning), and the  Worthington Community Library (Worthington). Advanced tickets only. Tickets will not be available at the door.

ACMH WALK/RUN 5K The ACMH Hospital and Foundation will be hosting a 5K Run / Walk on Saturday, May 6th, 2017 which will begin with registration at 7:30AM, warm up at 8:30AM and a bullhorn start at 9AM. Cost to participate for registrations received before April 24th is $15.00 for walkers and $20.00 for runners. Registration for runners received after April 24th is $25.00.

BEHAVIORAL HEALTH FOCUS GROUP Would you like the opportunity to provide input into your service needs or the mental health system?  There will be an opportunity to do just that at a Focus Group being held on Thursday, April 27, 201 at 1:00 p.m. at the Kittanning Empowerment Center located at 113 Market Street in Kittanning.  The Focus Group will be held during the regularly scheduled Community Support Program (CSP) meeting.  Come share your needs, ideas and concerns and be part of the Armstrong/Indiana County Behavioral Health Program’s planning process.

COLOR RUN Dayton Elementary PTO is having Color Run (fun run-participants may run or walk not a timed event) to help raise money for field trips for their students. 2017 FORD CITY COMMUNITY PICNIC  at Kennywood Park will be Saturday, July 15th.  Tickets will be available starting in early May at the Klingensmith’s Drug Stores in Ford City, Downtown Kittanning and West Kittanning.  FunDay passes  will be $25, Senior Citizen Passes $15 and bus tickets $8.  Bus transportation will be available from Ford City and Kittanning.  Children of unemployed or underprivileged families up to 18 years of age may go to Kennywood Park on Saturday, July 15th for a reduced rate of $15.  Parents and guardians must provide child’s name, date of birth, last place of employment, phone number and their monthly income to P.O. FREEDOM FEST sponsored by the Leechburg Volunteer Fire Company, featuring the “Smoke in the Valley Chili, Wings, and Rib Cook-Off” and the “Fire Extinguisher Brew-Off.” It’s a fun filled event attracting people throughout the region. It offer food, games, live music, and sample tasting of cook off contestant dishes as well a special selection of craft and home brewers for tasting as well. In addition, space is provided for area food vendors artisans and vendors like yourself to sell your crafts or other products. Spaces are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis.
