ANNUAL MEETING – Crooked Creek Watershed Association will hold a public Annual meeting on Tuesday, August 21 at 7PM at the Commissioners Conference room in the Courthouse Annex building, in Kittanning. For more information, please call (724)783-6692. Everyone welcome.

PASTA WITH A PURPOSE  Thursday, August 23, 5-7PM, Salvation Army, 205 South Jefferson Street, Kittanning. $5 (at the door) for pasta, meatball, salad, bread, dessert, & beverage. Takeout available. Benefit Community Needs Fund in Armstrong County.

MEET & GREET – Kittanning Public Library’s Artist of the Month Sara Klingensmith on August 23rd at the Kittanning Public Library. Sara’s art can be viewed at the library during the month of August.

MEXICAN FIESTA! Join us for a delicious, fresh made Mexican Dinner on Friday, August 24 from 5-7:30pm at Harvest Community Church (143 Reed Road, Kittanning). The cost is $10 for ages 12 & up, $7 for ages 6-11 & $3 for ages 5 & under. All proceeds will benefit the children in Juarez, Mexico. In Sept 2018, a group will travel to Juarez, Mexico to aid in the completion and furnishing of a children’s shelter. Proceeds from this dinner will go directly to these efforts. SHED AUCTION (10×20 metal shed, base and lock included, fair market value = $500) This silent auction will run from Tuesday, Aug. 14 to Saturday, Aug. 25. All bidders must register at the library for a bidding number. All proceeds benefit the Ford City Public Library. ANNUAL FESTIVAL – Saturday, August 25, from 11AM-8PM at St. Lawrence Church in Cadogan. Day includes adult & children’s games with prizes and Bouncy House. Large basket raffle with over 75 baskets. DJ Jack McKernan and Accordion Master Dave Paleczny providing entertainment. Lots of food.

FAMILY FUN DAY  at Walkchalk Salem Baptist Church, 1006 Butler Road, Kittanning on August 25,  from 11AM-3PM. Car Cruise, Food, Games and Box Maze for the kids, Bible Story, Chinese Auction. This year “TRADE FOR FREEDOM” will have products available to purchase, which are hand crafted by women who have been rescued from human trafficking and extreme poverty. A great way to purchase unique gifts and help women all around the world provide for their families with dignity, freedom and hope. Come and have a relaxing and enjoyable day. HUNTING HERITAGE BANQUET – The National Wild Turkey Federation will be holding its annual Hunting Heritage Banquet on August 25 at the Kittanning Township Fire Hall, Route 422 East. RALLY DAY Join us at the First Baptist Church of Kittanning, 334 Arch Street Kittanning for Rally Day on Sunday, August 26. The morning worship service begins at 10:55 AM followed by lunch and activities for all ages.  All children who attend will receive a pencil box full of school supplies. APOLLO VIGIL – August 31st is International Overdose Awareness Day. R.A.I.D. (Residents Against Illicit Drugs) will host a candlelight vigil and sky lantern release at the Apollo Ridge Football Field on August 31 at 8PM. Parking area is on North 2nd Street.

RUN TO REMEMBER 9/11 – West Kittanning Grace Brethren Church will host the 5K Run, 2.5 Mile Walk, & 1/2 Mile Kids’ Race on Sunday, September 9, at 5PM. To register or request a form please call: 724-543-4019. Entry fees prior to Sept. 3 are: Kids’ Race-$3,  5K-$5, and Walk-$3.   Entry fees after Sept. 3 are: Kids’ Race-$4,  5K-$7, and Walk-$5.

WOMEN’S SEMINAR with national speaker Beth Moore. This is a live simulcast on September 15 from 10:30 AM (doors open at 9:30) until 5:15 PM. USED BOOK SALE The Kittanning Public Library announces its Big Annual Used Book Sale @ St. John’s Lutheran Church, 218 N. Jefferson Street. (located beside the library) Thursday September 27th from 4 to 8 pm is the preview sale. $5 donation from adults is requested on Thursday only. Friday September 28 the hours are 10 am to 7 pm. Saturday hours are 9 am to 1 pm with a $5 box sale. ( a box will be provided at sale, please don’t bring your own) Huge selection of fiction, non-fiction, and children’s books of very good quality. OKTOBERFEST – September 29 from Noon till 4 on 11th Street in Ford City. Opening ceremony with area ministers. Buffet dinner (German foods plus!) Activities for children of all ages. Music of all types. Basket raffle. 50/50 raffle. Proceeds benefit Domestic Disaster Relief. Suggested donation of $5 per adult for meal. If rain, it will be held in St. John’s Lutheran Church basement.

PUMPKIN FEST – 21st Annual Rural Valley Pumpkin Fest, benefiting Shannock Valley parks & playgrounds will be held Saturday, September 29, 10AM-6PM. ANNUAL TRACTOR PARADE – Burrell Township Fire Department, Saturday, September 29 beginning at 1PM.

FALL FESTIVAL – Burrell Township Fire Department, Sunday, September 30. Come spend the day with friends and family while supporting the fire department. Community church at 10AM, followed by festival with 80 vendors.

DINNER/INDUCTION CEREMONY – The Ford City Area Hall of Fame will publicly recognize and honor George A. Grates, Jr; Stanley and Kathryn Heffner (“Heffner & Hefner”); the Steiner Travel Agency; and Fred L.
