The Information Center appears in the Kittanning Paper on Page 2 daily and is featured daily on WTYM AM 1380 / FM 103.7 radio. It promotes events held by non-profit organizations only.

 

PUBLIC MEETING – Ford City Borough will hold a public meeting on flood-related issues and solutions on April 24th at 6PM at the Latin American Beneficial Society located at 1218 3rd Avenue, Ford City.

BIG USED BOOK SALE  sponsored by the Kittanning Library at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 218 N. Jefferson Street (Next to the library) There is a preview sale where a $5 donation for adults is requested on Thursday April 25th from 4 to 8 pm. Hours on Friday April 26th are 10 am to 7pm. Saturday April 27th is 9 am to 1 pm. On Saturday books are $5 a liquor store box (will be provided at sale) Donations of clean gently used books are accepted during library hours. “SOUNDS OF CASH” – Johnny Cash Tribute Artist Dale Ruth will present a concert on Thursday, April 25 at 10:30 AM at the Kittanning Senior Center, Queen Street. The program is available to individuals over 60 years of age. For more information, call the Center at 724-543-2773.

FREE DINNER at St Paul’s Episcopal Church 112 North Water Street, Kittanning, on April 27th from 4:00 till 5PM, sponsored by the kitchen crew. Doors will open at 3:45 PM. Open to the public.

CHICKEN & BISCUIT DINNER at the Templeton Church of God Fellowship Hall on Saturday, April 27 from 4-7 PM. Dinner is by donation and is sponsored by the Cochran Cemetery Association.

PA SENIORS MEDICARE PATROL PROGRAM – Saturday, April 27 from 11AM until Noon at the Kittanning Public Library, 280 N Jefferson St.  Billions of dollars are lost to Medicare fraud an abuse each year. In response to the problem of fraud, the Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) program was established and is run by the U.S. Administration for Community Living (ACL), a division of Health and Human Services. The SMP is a Medicare fraud prevention program that educates people about fraud and scams and what they can do about it. Please call the library at 724-543-1383 to sign up or stop by the library.

NATURE CHALLENGE – The Outdoor Discovery Center at Crooked Creek, located at 142 Kerr Road, Ford City, is hosting a City Nature Challenge on Sunday, April 28 from 1-3PM. This international bioblitz-style event will have participants learning how to use their smart phones to observe and catalog any and all evidence of nature using the iNaturalist app. Participants should dress approximately for the weather and prepare to head outside. LEGENDS AT THE LIBRARY on Thursday, May 2 at 6PM will feature a presenter from Fort Pitt Museum and Heinz History Center will present a program on the kidnapping of Massy Harbison in 1792 near present-day Freeport, and the story of Massy’s incredible survival. NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER SERVICE is scheduled for the front of the Armstrong County Court House on Thursday, May 2 at 7AM. The service is coordinated by Harvest Community Church. The public is invited to attend. For more information, contact Pastor Rodney Miller at 724-548-5643.

NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER SERVICE is scheduled for the Rural Valley area at the Shannock Community Park on Thursday, May 2 at 6:30 PM. The theme of this year’s National Day of Prayer is “Love One Another”. The public is invited to attend.

GARAGE SALE on May 3-4 from 8AM-2PM at 602 Hill Street, Manorville. All NEW garden supplies, electrical supplies, outdoor lighting, knobs and handles for furniture, shower curtains, curtains,  and much more. There are also chairs and other furniture. Cash and carry. All proceeds benefit Armstrong Habitat for Humanity.

PUBLIC MEETING – Armstrong Habitat for Humanity will be holding a public meeting on May 3 at the Living Water Church, 721 Woodward Avenue, in Kittanning. Doors open at 5PM and free dinner served at 6PM. Topic of discussion: the Wick City Revitalization Program. Applications for Home Ownership and A Brush with Kindness programs will be available.

MEETING – The Vietnam Memorial Traveling Wall will be coming this summer. There will be a planning meeting at the Ford City VFW Post 4843, 2125 Bailey Avenue, Pattonville, on Saturday, May 4 at 1PM. All organizations and individuals that are planning to volunteer for “The Wall at Kittanning 2019” are encouraged to attend this meeting.

INDOOR YARD SALE at Grace Presbyterian Church, 155 North Jefferson Street in Kittanning with free admission on Saturday May 4, 8AM-2PM. YOUTH CLINIC – AHS Track and Field Presents Youth Clinic (Grades 4, 5, 6), Sunday, May 5, from 2:00 – 5:00 PM at AHS Stadium. Cost: $25 per child. Please register online and pay by Monday, April 15th to receive a t-shirt. Submit envelopes marked “Track Clinic” with child’s name and money to his/her school. Envelopes will be collected at West Hills Intermediate, Lenape Elem., Elderton Elem., Shannock Valley Elem., and Dayton Elem. Checks should be made payable to “AHS Track and Field Boosters” Exhibition Meet Starts @ 3:30 pm ● (Parents are welcome to attend.) The event is rain or shine. GOSPEL MEETINGS  at Kittanning Church of Christ (behind Dairy Queen) May 19-23, 7PM nightly, with Willie Franklin, an All-American in football and track, as well as state runner-up in wrestling at Mesa Community Junior College. In 1971 he was a walk-on with the Baltimore Colts and made the team. In 1974, he signed with the Los Angeles Rams. He currently is doing campus ministry at the University of North Texas. He is a motivational speaker with great Biblical insight. All are welcome to attend.
