FREEDOM FEST sponsored by the Leechburg Volunteer Fire Company, featuring the “Smoke in the Valley Chili, Wings, and Rib Cook-Off” and the “Fire Extinguisher Brew-Off.” It’s a fun filled event attracting people throughout the region. It offer food, games, live music, and sample tasting of cook off contestant dishes as well a special selection of craft and home brewers for tasting as well. In addition, space is provided for area food vendors artisans and vendors like yourself to sell your crafts or other products. Spaces are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. JAIL PRESENTATION The next “Drugs Kill Dreams Jail Experience” will be held on Tuesday, July 11 at 6PM at the Armstrong County Jail. The program  is appropriate for ages 10 and older.  Groups welcome. Please register online at

FREE CONCERT The Kittanning Community Band will be performing a concert on Thursday July 13 at 7pm at the West Kittanning Firehall, 401 Arthur Street, Kittanning.  The Band will be performing a variety of tunes that will be sure to get your toes tapping.  The performance is free to the public and all are welcome to attend.

2017 FORD CITY COMMUNITY PICNIC  at Kennywood Park will be Saturday, July 15th.  Tickets will be available starting in early May at the Klingensmith’s Drug Stores in Ford City, Downtown Kittanning and West Kittanning.  Fun Day passes  will be $25, Senior Citizen Passes $15 and bus tickets $8.  Bus transportation will be available from Ford City and Kittanning.  Children of unemployed or underprivileged families up to 18 years of age may go to Kennywood Park on Saturday, July 15th for a reduced rate of $15.  Parents and guardians must provide child’s name, date of birth, last place of employment, phone number and their monthly income to P.O. UNITED METHODIST VBS Manorville United Methodist Church Invites Families to “Rome-Paul in the Underground Church” VBS July 17-21, 2017 – 6:30pm to 8:45pm.  Registration is open at 6pm each night. Classes  will be held each evening for age 4 (accompanied by adult) thru just completed sixth grade. All area youth are welcome.  Youth discover how God is with them wherever they go. Kids sing catchy songs, play teamwork-building games, dig into Bible-times snacks,  hear Paul’s story from jail, and enjoy making crafts each night. Each day concludes at Celebration—a time of upbeat worship that gets everyone involved.  Community picnic in the parking lot will be Friday evening about 7:30pm after classes and a program. FIREFLY WATCH Come learn about Fireflies at the Crooked Creek Environmental Learning Center on July 16 at 8:00 PM.
