The Information Center appears in the Kittanning Paper on Page 2 daily and is featured daily on WTYM AM 1380 / FM 103.7 radio. It promotes events held by non-profit organizations only.

 

OLDIES DANCE – The Knights of Columbus Council No. 17178 Ford City/Cadogan will sponsor an oldies dance for 21/older from 7PM until midnight on Saturday, November 16 at the Latin American Club, 1218 Third Ave., Ford City. Cost is $10 a person. Food, beer, and munchies will be provided. The deejay will be Jack McKernan. Tickets may be obtained at the Christ Prince of Peace Partner Parish Office or call 724-954-4968. Ticket quantity is limited.  Proceeds will benefit youth-oriented, faith-based programs and local support services.

BENEFIT LUNCH – St. Paul’s Community Church is hosting a benefit lunch for a cancer patient on Sunday, November 17, at Frogtown Community Center 381 Frogtown Road, Chicora from Noon-3:00 PM. Menu is ham, cheesy potatoes, salad & dessert. $10/adult, $6/children under 12. Basket raffle tickets available.

500 BID CARD PARTY on Monday, November 18 at 1PM at the Kittanning Senior Center on Queen Street. Anyone age 60 or older is welcome to attend.

SCHOOL BOARD MEETING – The Regular Monthly Meeting of the Board of School Directors of the Armstrong School District will be held Monday, November 18 at 7:30 PM in Room 2050 (Large Group Instruction Room) at West Hills Intermediate School, 175 Heritage Park Drive, Kittanning.

CHRISTMAS IN CHICORA – Get a jump start on your shopping at Christmas In Chicora 2019!  The annual event will be held on Friday and Saturday before Thanksgiving, November 22-23rd, times vary based on location of venue. Travel through the tight-knit town as you visit local businesses that will hold open houses with refreshments, prize giveaways, and luncheon specials.  A huge craft and vendor show will be held at various locations throughout the town. The Chicora Medical Center, Nextier Bank, Quality Pharmacy, the Volunteer Fire Company, local churches, clubs, and even Chicora Elementary School are just a few of the stops along the way. Many of the retail stores will also have special discounts to welcome shoppers.  You are sure to find something for everyone as you travel through the quaint small town! As you stop, be sure to get your passport stamped. Once completed, passports can then be submitted at any location for fantastic door prizes to be drawn on Sunday afternoon. On Saturday, enjoy breakfast with Mrs. Claus and help welcome Santa at Chicora Elementary. Pictures with Santa will also be available for a small fee. Pre-registration is required for the breakfast. Presented by the Dayton-Smicksburg Ministerium, Dayton VFD, and Dayton Borough.

THANKSGIVING WORSHIP – November 24 at the Worthington Presbyterian Church. The Ministerium will hold it annual Community Thanksgiving Service. It begins with a potluck dinner at 6:00 PM and the service follows at 7:00 PM.

COOKBOOK CLUB (Because grown-ups have fun at the library too!) Wednesday, December 4, at 1:00 pm at the Kittanning Public Library, 280 N. Jefferson St, Kittanning. December’s theme is 4th of July in December with July picnics as the theme. Do you love browsing through cookbooks and trying new recipes, enjoy sampling and sharing new dishes? Then join us on the first Wednesday of every month for our cookbook club! Here’s what you do to join the cookbook club: (Library membership not required) Stop in at the circulation desk and browse through the cookbook that was selected. Pick a recipe, we will make a copy. Make it up and bring to the library to share the finished product, socialize and chat about your favorites!

SENIOR CITIZEN TURKEY DINNER – The Kittanning Lions Club will be holding its 44th Annual Senior Citizens Dinner on Sunday, December 15 beginning at Noon at the St. Mary Parish Hall in Kittanning.  The turkey dinner with all the trimmings is free to all area senior citizens.  Reservations can be made by mailing your reservation to Kittanning Lions Club, Post Office Box 1014, Kittanning, PA 16201. Please include your name, telephone number, number of people dining in and number of takeout dinners. The deadline for all reservations is December 5. Take outs are for shut-ins only.

SPAGHETTI WITH SANTA – Rory Ridge Rescue, Armstrong County Horse Rescue( Templeton Pa) along with Whiskey Acres Sanctuary ( Homer City Pa) is hosting a Spaghetti Lunch with Santa to raise money for horses in the rescues care. Sunday, December 8 from 12 Noon until 3PM at the Dayton Fire Hall. Cost is $8 per adult, $5 per child under 10.

CHRISTMAS CANNING JAR CRAFT – Join Judy at the Kittanning Public Library, 280 N. Jefferson St, Kittanning, on Wednesday, December 11, at 1:00 pm for a canning jar craft. To sign up call 724-543-1383 or email the library at kittanninglibrary@hotmail.com. Please bring flowers, ribbon, etc. for decorating. Canning jars and some materials will be provided. If you have a special jar or materials you wish to use please feel free to bring them. Everyone is welcome. You don’t need to be a member to join in the fun.
