RIZZO: IUP Sports & More Tonight on RSW

Tonight on my cable show, I’ll be speaking with Matt Burglund of the Indiana Gazette. The big news at IUP is that the Men’s Basketball team is the top seed in the Atlantic Region, which will see them, host the NCAA Atlantic Region Tournament. IUP will play Fairmont State on Saturday, should they advance they’ll play the winner of West Virginia State vs. East Stroudsburg on Sunday. The show starts 730pm on FLTV 23.

Yesterday I incorrectly stated that four Kittanning Wrestlers placed 5th at the Regional Tournament and would be going to the State Finals. The wrestlers actually placed 5th at the WPIAL Tournament and were unable to advance past the Regional Tournament.

RIZZO: WPIAL Basketball Champions & KHS Wrestling

Mt. Lebanon showed again that they’re the preeminent basketball power in Western PA, as their girls and boys teams both won WPIAL Quad-A Titles. In Triple-A it was Chartiers Valley in Boys and New Castle in Girls. For the second season in a row North Catholic won the Double-A Boys while, the Jeanette Girls took home the Girls’ Title. Finally in Single-A, Sewickley Academy won in boys, while Vincentian took home the title in girls.

In wrestling news Kittanning’s Nate Robb (103), Christian Emminger(119), Aaron Anthony(135), and Wes Schmidt(215) all finished 5th in Regionals earning them a trip to the State Finals.
