The Armstrong Habitat for Humanity group is set to open a re-store at 106 South Jefferson Street in the old Sherwin-Williams building some time this summer.
“We closed on the building yesterday,” said Donnie Guthrie, the Armstrong Habiat for Humanity Executive Director.
“We’re going to be opening up a re-sale store soon on South Jefferson Street,” said Paul Klukan, the general contractor for the North Grant Avenue Habitat for Humanity site. ”We’re going to sell the left over stuff from [the Habitat build site]. Or if somebody is remodeling and they’re tearing out a bathroom, and the fixtures are still good, we can take it into the store and re-sell it.”
Guthrie expressed his hopes that lots of building materials will be donated to the re-store.
“We are putting the call out to anybody that can give us building supplies that could be sold in the store,” said Guthrie. “We will take anything from wood to drywall to washing machines. Basically, anything that could go into a house.”
All donated materials need to be in good shape, said Guthrie. Members of Habitat for Humanity are available to pick up any larger items.
“All the proceeds will go back towards building houses for families in Armstrong County,” said Guthrie.
