What’s the deal with these preseason WPIAL Football Rankings? Some have Freeport ranked at high as #5 in Double-A. If Freeport is that good, then Kittanning should be feeling really optimistic about their year. If Ford City likes being the underdog, then they should be happy that no poll that I’ve seen has them ranked. However, the good thing is we’ll get this all sorted out soon enough because that’s why they play the games. Speaking of rankings, look for the extremely popular RizzoSports.com rankings to make their season debut on Monday.
Also, a reminder, college football starts today so there is still time to join our Kittanning Paper group in ESPN.com’s College Pick’em game.

This could be the biggest game of the year for the Panthers especially if they have dreams of finishing the season undefeated. A win tonight would propel the Panthers and set them up to be 2-0 with Miami coming to town in week 3. In sports, confidence can go a long way, especially for a first year quarterback. Dave Wannstedt would also like to show he can win spotlight games. Besides the Pitt game, college fans will want to keep their eyes on UConn at Michigan and Oregon St. at TCU game. Also don’t forget about the biggest match-up of them all, Boise St. at Virginia Tech on Monday. Yes! Monday Night. On a completely different side note, expect to see a lot of crazy looking new uniform designs this season.

Tonight on RSW, I figure we should talk about the upcoming Kittanning vs. Ford City Football Game. Buildup to the game has been somewhat dual. Unlike last season, this year’s game will not have any impact on the playoffs. It will be hard for Friday’s game to top last year’s drama. Voting on RizzoSports.com has Ford City as the favorites. I’m not surprised consider the amount of key guys the Sabers have back. However, Kittanning has some gamebreakers on the roster, which will certainly make this one interesting. I hope to hear your thoughts on the keys to the game for both teams, tonight at 7:30 on FLTV and WTYM Radio 1380. If you can’t listen live, feel free to email your comments to mrizzo@familylifetv.com. I’ll see you tonight!!!
