What KP Readers Wanted to Read…

The Kittanning Paper website (www.kittanningpaper.com) receives an average of nearly 3,000 visits each weekday that read on the average of at least 3 of the 8 pages of the latest news.

Daily activity on the site is monitored using sophisticated computer software.

The top five stories over the past 30 days that drew readers were: (1) Jerry Miklos being elected to Ford City Borough Council based on write-in votes (12/16/2011) drew 2,265 readers. (2) School directors capped possible tax increases (12/13/2011) captured the interest of 1,548 readers. (3) The kick-off of the new Emergency Operating Center construction (12/22/2011) drew 1,498 readers, but had the most comments of the top articles by readers. (4) The delay of the sale of the former Ford City Heritage Park by F&M Bank to ARC Manor (1/06/2012) caught the attention of 1,290 Ford City and Kittanning readers alike. (5) When Manor Township firefighters asked for help of taxpayers to purchase a new fire truck (12/08/11), it drew 1,198 readers – some for, but many against the consideration.

Readers came from a variety of areas. The top five areas were 31,465 visitors from the Kittanning area, 2,400 from Pittsburgh, 1,813 from Leechburg, 1,345 from Butler, and 957 from Ford City.

Parishioners Donate to Lions Club Toy Drive

The Ford City Lions Club ,recently, completed its annual “Ford City Lions Club Joe Alese Toys For Kids” project.

Boxes were placed in various community churches and toys were donated by the parishoners. The toys were then donated to the Kittanning based Salvation Army to be handed out to those families in need. Pictured is Captain David Rhodes, of the Salvation Army, Virginia Alese, widow of deceased Lion Joe Alese, who spearheaded this project many years ago, and members of the Ford City Lions Club.

A Christmas dinner, for Lions Club members and their guests took place, in the Mantini Social Hall, prior to the presentation of the gifts. Also pictured, 2nd from right in the back row is 1st Vice District Governor Tom Toland.
