Leechburg Property Owners to Pay More in Taxes

A 24% tax increase is expected in Leechburg Borough this year if Council accepts their preliminary budget in December.

The Borough plans to raise millage from 18 to 22.3.

Nearly $320,000 of the $1.2 million budget will be spent on their police department. The Borough has had a difficult time attracting and keeping officers. It currently has two full-time officers and three part-time officers.  Council raised the hourly wage to $18.50 per hour but has not been able to attract more officers.

Council members Nancy Bono, Chuck Pascal, Anthony Roppolo, and Alan Tarr voted in favor of the preliminary budget. Council President Tom Foster voted against the increase.
