Ray Klukan, current council member, and Assistant Fire Chief for Ford City Hose Co. #1 announced on Tuesday that he would seek re-election for Ford City Council as a write-in candidate.
“I’m proud to announce that I’ll be running to represent all of Ford City but specifically the 1st Ward: my ward, and the ward I grew up in, for Council.”
Klukan will conclude his current term at the end of this year and had not planned to run. A n unidentified source close to him said he changed his mind when he saw candidates that are on the ballot and have plans for write-in votes.
Klukan believes he can secure the votes for another term.
“I’m looking forward to continue the success of bringing in small business and focusing on our tackling our blight issues along with updating our infrastructure such as water lines and street paving in Ford City,” his news release stated.
“During the past 4 years we eliminated a federal debt and signed an oil and gas deal that will benefit the town in the future. I saw what worked, and what didn’t, and I know one thing is clear: Ford City needs to be put on the map. We need to keep a
council that wants to keep progress, not division. We need a council that respects not only the title they hold, but the citizens they represent, and those working with them to build a better Ford City.”
Klukan asks that citizens consider him for re-election because of the civil and levelheaded leadership brought back to borough government these past four years.
Voters will go to the polls to vote in the General Election on November 5, 2019.
