Contractors Hit Gas Line While Installing New Water Main in Applewold

Crews from Pennsylvania American Water are replacing eight-inch water lines in Applewold. Yesterday, contractors ruptured an abandon gas line that wasn’t pressurized, but had residual natural gas in it. The smell permeated the neighborhood and neighbors called 9-1-1. Kittanning Police Chief Bruce Mathews investigated said that the odor was temporary and there was no cause for concern.
