Police Rule Leechburg Death a Suicide

Pennsylvania State Police, numerous local police departments and the Armstrong County Coroner spent most of Monday trying to determine what happened after finding a man deceased in Leechburg.

State Police Trooper Brett Stivason was called to a residence at 601 Pitt Street in Leechburg Borough after reports of a man firing multiple shots into the rear door of the residence to gain entry at approximately 3AM.

Once inside, Jonathan Paul Kulick, 37, suffered a single gunshot wound to his head.

Kulick was pronounced dead by Armstrong County Coroner Brian K. Myers.  Myers said that Kulick was found in the kitchen of the neighbor’s house face down on the floor.

An autopsy was performed Tuesday morning confirmed that Kulick died of a single self-inflicted gunshot to the head.   The manner of death will be ruled a suicide, Myers said.

In addition to the Coroner’s office, State Police from both Kittanning and Butler barracks assisted local police departments of Leechburg, Vandergrift and Allegheny Township.

The Curran Funeral Home in Leechburg will be handling the funeral arrangements.
