Manor Keeps Landscaper to Cut Park Grass

Supervisors Bob Southworth and Don Palmer discuss grass-cutting at the Fort Run Park. Supervisors voted to continue to contract Emminger Landscaping to maintain a regular grass cutting schedule.

Manor Township supervisors met last night for their monthly work session.

Supervisor Chair Don Palmer reported that the Fort Run Park committee met. There were several groups that were willing to cut grass and clear brush from the riverbank. Although the supervisors had already approved local Kittanning landscaper Emminger Landscaping to cut the grass on a regular basis, the committee felt that volunteers could be utilized at a cost savings to the township.

Although appreciative of the intent of the groups, Supervisor Bob Southworth felt it would be best to continue with regular cutting by Emminger.

“Keep him on the schedule, ” Southworth said. “That guy does a good job. Don’t mess with it. Don’t interfere with the guy’s schedule that’s cutting the grass.”

Palmer said there were be a community clean-up day for volunteers to help clear the riverbank, fix up the ball field, and replace and/or paint benchtops in the dugout on March 23 from 10AM until 2PM. In order to purchase supplies, supervisors approved $400 for the project.
