Emergency Personnel Have Busy Afternoon

Police were busy with multiple calls yesterday afternoon.

  • The Kittanning Citizens Bridge and Water Street became icy during mid-afternoon hours. A vehicle reportedly skidded on ice and struck a fire hydrant at the corner of North Water and Arch streets. Pennsylvania American Water was alerted to check the hydrant. An individual was transported to the hospital. West Kittanning and Kittanning Hose Co. #1 responded to the accident. Kittanning Borough Superintendent of Public Works Jim Mechling was notified to treat North Water Street.

  • Kittanning Hose Company responded to a call not even an hour later to a report of the Nextier sign in the Family Dollar parking lot “smoking”. Power was cut to the sign since bank officials were not available for maintenance.

  • A silver Trailblazer vehicle was reportedly headed eastbound on the Graff Bridge with its door open and window broken out.  The vehicle took the Indiana exit and continued Route 422 east.  Manor Township Police were alerted but could not make contact with the vehicle by the time it passed from Manor into Kittanning Township. Pennsylvania State Police were alerted.
