William Joseph (Pee Wee) Shaffer, 79 of Ford City, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler, PA. He was born in Ford City on July 4, 1938 to Edward and Mary (Frereotte) Shaffer.
Bill was a resident of Ford City and graduated from Ford City High School in 1958 and served in the military. He was a past member of the Ford City Fire Department and previously served as a Eucharistic Minister at Christ Prince of Peace Parish in Ford City. Bill worked for the Ford City Borough retiring in July 2000 After 35 years of service. He enjoyed baseball and played in various leagues following his graduation from high school. He was an avid golfer and was a member of Lenape Heights Golf Course for over 30 years.
He is survived by his wife Beverly (Klingensmith) Shaffer whom he married on November 4, 1972. He is also survived by a son, Brian Keith Shaffer, of Sterling Heights, MI.
Also surviving are brothers Edward Shaffer and James Shaffer, both of Ford City; Robert Shaffer of Idaho, and Joseph Shaffer of Virginia and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Family and friends will be received from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday, March 14, and from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm on Thursday, March 15. Funeral service will be held at 10am on Friday, March 16 at Christ, Prince of Peace Parish, 718 Fourth Avenue, Ford City, PA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001. Arrangements are being handled by Mantini Funeral Home, 701 Sixth Avenue, Ford City, PA.
