Local Third/Fourth Graders Get a Taste of Victory!

West Hills and Lenape Elementary third and fourth grades combined their students for multiple teams in each grade for basketball this season.

Coach Eric Petrosky coached one of three teams of third graders and was pleased with their accomplishments.

“Our Third Grade team went 12-1 for the season, which was pretty impressive,” Petrosky said. “They played in different schools – Elderton, West Shamokin, Apollo, and played the other two Third Grade teams. We have all third graders, and two Second Graders that played up on our team. So we were the youngest team that played.”

Fourth grade had three in-house teams and also a travel team. They played Apollo, West Shamokin, and Elderton as well. Travel teams begin in the Fourth grade, going to various tournaments throughout the season that included Marion Center, Derry, West Allegheny, and the Drugs Kill Dreams tournament.

The players and coaching staff was treated to a pizza party and bowling at Falcon Lanes in Ford City on Tuesday night to celebrate the success of both grades.
