Fire Destroys Barns in Boggs Township

A fire broke out last night shortly before 8PM on a property at 1981 Route 28/66 in Boggs Township.

The fire destroyed two barns.

Fire fighters from Pine Township, Distant, Dayton, Hawthorne, Kittanning Township, West Kittanning, and Rayburn Township, in addition to Kittanning Hose Company #6 Ambulance Service that was on scene.

The fire could be seen high up into the night sky for miles. One unidentified area resident said it was the worst fire he had seen since the Dale Forringer family lost their home, barn, and 30-acres on April 18, 1959 in a four-hour blaze.

Volunteers from seven fire departments provided water to the scene to battle the blaze.
