Area Businesses Cash in on December Sales (Part 2)

EDITOR’S NOTE: The Kittanning Paper will be featuring area businesses this week as we look at shopping trends in Armstrong County. Today, we look at Chamber Jewelers and Vocelli’s Pizza.

As customers are descending on grocery stores like bees to honey this week, the less they want to go home and cook tonight. That has increased business in takeout fast food and pizza shops.

Vic Colen at Vocelli’s Pizza in Kittanning said there is one pizza that is popular year round, regardless of the season – pepperoni!

Vocelli’s is a take-out only shop that has no seating at all. That doesn’t stop people from standing as they wait for their order or call for delivery.

Bailey Dunmire of Spaces Corners has been a pizza maker at Vocelli’s Pizza for the past five years.

Zach Chambers at Chambers Jewelers in Ford City said diamonds are the perfect gift any time of year, but especially so at Christmas.

“A lot of engagement rings this year. You always get a mix of people buying early and last minute,” he said.

Chambers also handcrafts custom jewelry for every taste. Those items require some lead time and are not last-minute purchases. However, he had some suggestions for the guy who waited until the last minute to make his decision.

“Diamonds are always a winner. Ear rings, studs, and cute pendants are always good for last minute gifts.”

Chambers said blue topaz seemed to also be very popular this year. His store was well stocked with many items that would make the perfect gift.

Chamber’s Jewelers in Ford City said necklaces and ear rings in blue topaz or diamonds are in demand this Christmas season.
