Holiday Retail Theft on the Rise

EAST FRANKLIN – Pennsylvania State Police have responded to multiple incidents at the Walmart in the Hilltop Plaza.

On December 6, an unidentified 39-year-old woman from New Bethlehem was accused of stealing $113.84 worth of merchandise from the store. Charges were filed with District Magisterial Judge James Owen.

Also on December 6, 23-year-old Justin Anthony from Karns City was accused of failing to scan multiple grocery items while going through the self-checkout line. The items totaled $137.03. Charges were filed with District Magisterial Judge James Owen.

An unidentified 63-year-old woman from New Bethlehem was accused of taking unspecified items on Thursday, December 7. The investigation is continuing.

On Sunday, December 10, Emmajean Mowery, age 57, of Kittanning was advised by loss prevention personnel that she was prohibited from being on Walmart property due to a previous incident. Mowery would not leave the store once communication was given to her to leave. Charges have been filed at District Court in Kittanning for Criminal Trespass.
