Tuesday marked the start of the PIAA State Playoffs for the Armstrong River Hawks volleyball team as well as the West Shamokin volleyball and soccer teams.
Armstrong River Hawks Varsity Girls Volleyball:
After losing in the WPIAL 4A Playoff Championship, the Armstrong River Hawks volleyball team rebounded with a win in round one of the PIAA 4A Playoffs.
The River Hawks won in three straight sets over Allderdice on Tuesday evening. Armstrong won set one 25-11, set two 25-10, and set three 25-10.
In the game, Loryn Bowser finished with 9 kills, Lauren Crytzer had 7 kills, and Kenzie Lasher recorded 13 digs.
It is unknown where the River Hawks will play, but they will be facing Garnet Valley on Saturday, November 11.
West Shamokin Varsity Boys Soccer:
The West Shamokin Wolves had their season end on Tuesday after winning the District 6 title.
The Wolves lost 6-0 to Oley Valley at Richland High School in Johnstown.
West Shamokin Varsity Girls Volleyball:
The West Shamokin Wolves varsity girls volleyball team was able to bounce back from a loss in the District 6 Finals by defeating North Star in four sets, 3-1.
The Wolves won set one 25-12, lost the second set 24-26, West Shamokin then won the third set 25-13, and closed out the game winning the fourth and final set 25-20.
West Shamokin will face New Hope-Solebury in the PIAA 2A Quarter-Finals on Saturday, November 11 at a time and place yet to be determined.
