Crews Continue Paving Kittanning Streets

Shields Paving crews carefully seal the new base asphalt against the side of the curbs and where the new asphalt meets the existing road surface.

KITTANNING – It was a wet summer night last night; however, the heat could be felt coming from the hot newly-laid asphalt at 6AM this morning.

Crews from Shields Paving repaired the base of South Grant, McKean, and Jefferson streets after milling down the old asphalt. Last night, they put down the first layer of new asphalt, carefully sealing it against the curbs.

All work is being performed from 6PM to 6AM to minimize disruptions to traffic and businesses during the day. Motorists will be able to use the streets with caution over the weekend. There are still considerable bumps due to the level between the the two road surfaces.

Crews finish work for the night at 6AM this morning at the intersection of Jefferson and Market streets in Kittanning.
