Motorists along Route 85 on Monday experienced significant delays. Several oversized loads of drilling rigs took up both lanes requiring drivers to pull off the road while the trucks passed by at speeds of only 15 miles per hour. As the one rig turned right at the intersection from Route 85 onto Route 28/66 north, two tires blew requiring assistance from Good Tire Service for emergency roadside repair. According to the driver, each rig is approximately 160,000 pounds. The company was transporting approximately 15 rigs to a Snyder-owned facility (known as “Dynamite Pad” by the transportation company) on Montgomery Road in East Franklin Township. However, because of weight and height restrictions, the route took them north on Route 66, over to Route 268, and back down to Montgomery Road.
