Martha Fern Matthews, 90, of Kittanning, died Monday, April 14, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on June 28, 1923 in Toby Township, Clarion County, the daughter of Samuel V. and Anna Blanche (Wilson) Myers.
Fern was a lifetime resident of the Kittanning area and graduated from Sligo High School in 1942. She was a member of St. Luke’s United Church of Christ.
Fern enjoyed quilting and walking her dog. She also loved the beach, but her favorite place to be was with her family.
Fern will be greatly missed by her family who deeply loved her.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Ronald David Matthews and wife, Darlene, of Madison, Ala., and their son, Rick Korab; her daughter, Carol Bucko and husband, John, of Dayton, Pa., and their son, Matthew Bucko; her daughter, Barbara G. Heilman and husband, Curt, of Kittanning, and their daughter, Stephanie Edwards and husband, Matt; brother, Orville Myers, of Manfield, Texas; and sister, Anna Mae Lingenfelter, of Mechanicsburg, Pa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas D. Matthews; and three brothers: Dwight, Eugene and Vincent Myers.
At Fern’s request, services will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to Bauer Funeral Home in Kittanning.
Burial will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates in Worthington.
