Donna J. Young, 79, of Shelocta, died Thursday, January 31, 2013, at ACMH.
She was born June 9, 1933 in Ford City, the daughter of Russell D. Stitt, Sr. and Bernice L. (Lerner) Stitt.
Donna graduated from Kittanning High School in 1951 and married Donald H. Young on August 9 of that same year. They moved to Shelocta in 1959 and called the area home ever since. Throughout their marriage, Donna and Don took many camping trips to Tionesta.
Donna was a member of Mt. Union Lutheran Church and enjoyed canning vegetables from her garden. She was also very crafty and loved to crochet and make beautiful quilts.
Donna’s family and friends will always remember her caring and nurturing spirit.
Her memory will be cherished by her son, Bobby D. Young, Sr. and wife, Cindy, of Shelocta; two daughters: Connie J. McCullough and husband, Bill, of Shelocta, and Cathy L. Gearhart and husband, Rodney, of Butler; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers: John F. Stitt, of Indiana, PA, and Russell D. Stitt and wife, Pat, of South Carolina; and two sisters: Hope L. Johns, and Mary Ellen Conner and husband, Alvin, all of Templeton.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 60 years, Donald H. Young, who died April 2, 2012; son, Robby L. Young, who died June 7, 2012; brother, Thomas L. Stitt; and sister, Melva Ann Stitt.
Family and friends were received from 2-4 and 7-9PM on Sunday, February 3, 2013, at the Clark Chapel of the Bauer Funeral Home in Elderton.
Additional visitation will be held from 10AM until the time of funeral services at 11AM today, Monday, February 4, 2013, at Mt. Union Lutheran Church, 1051 Girty Rd., Shelocta, with the Rev. Joyce Dix-Weiers officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Union Lutheran Cemetery in Shelocta.
