Robin Vallie Gillespie Hilty, age 52, of Apollo, passed away after a courageous
battle with cancer on Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at her mother’s home, Brookview
Country Manor in Creekside.
She was born September 28, 1959 in Greensburg, PA, to Robert Edgar and Audrey L. (Yount) Newsom.
Robin was a resident of the area all her life and graduated from Elderton High School. Family was the driving force in Robin’s life and she dedicated her life to caring for them. She attended the First Baptist Church of Apollo and in her spare time enjoyed collecting antiques. Robin also liked working with her beautiful plants and gardens. The times she spent with her family and friends were her most treasured, and those
who knew her will remember her wonderful personality and compassion for others.
Her memory will be cherished by her mother, Audrey L. Newsom, of Creekside; husband, David L. Hilty, of Apollo; son, Maxwell Gillespie, of Apollo; daughter, Sheila Marie Hilty, of Apollo; brother, Eugene Newsom, of Creekside; sisters, Darlene Rupert and husband, Larry, of Elderton, Charold Silvis and husband, Jack, of Coeburn, VA, Brenda Bash and husband, Jerry, of Creekside, and Roberta Spencer and husband, Johnny, of Dayton, PA; many nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Dorothy Jean Hilty, of Apollo; brothers-in-law, Dan Hilty and wife, Barbara, and Tim Hilty and wife, Sherry, all of Spring Church; and sisters-in-law, Linda Mull and husband, Butch, of Vandergrift, Pam Batistig, of Apollo, and Dorothy Hilty, of Apollo.
Robin was preceded in death by her father, Robert Edgar Newsom; son, Charles Gillespie; and brother-in-law, Jeff Hilty.
Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Friday, July 20, 2012, at Clark Chapel of the Bauer Funeral Home in Elderton. Additional visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Saturday, July 21, 2012, at the funeral home, with Rev. Scott Fairman officiating. Burial will be in Atwood Cemetery.
