Elderton Elementary Students Plan for Future

Elderton Elementary students learned about almost two dozen career fields May 10 as part of the school's Career Day in the auditorium.

The 5th and 6th graders at Elderton Elementary and Kittanning Township Elementary began planning for the future earlier this month, when the school held their Career Day within the school’s gymnasium.

Students learn the work of Rural Valley Construction workers outside the school during a recent Career Day activity.

Representatives from 21 different fields of career paths – including ACMH, the Pennsylvania State Police and Rural Valley Construction – were present. They discussed with the students their chosen career, opportunities in the field, education/experience required, and the company they are employed with.

The students reportedly enjoyed visiting with the different representatives and learning the details of the job.  This event was set up to help the students realize the opportunities available to them which will in turn help them plan for their future.
