OBIT: Gordon L. Garmong (Ford City)

Gordon L. Garmong, 47, of Ford City, died Monday, February 20, 2012 at UPMC – Shadyside.

He was born September 1, 1964 in Kittanning.

Gordon worked as a shift supervisor at Du-Co Ceramics in Saxonburg. He was a member of the National Guard.

During his last year of hunting, Gordon bagged an 11-point buck in archery season.

A member of the Baptist faith, Gordon was a proud father, avid archer and rifle hunter. He loved to garden, remodel and take care of his family. Everyone will always remember his smiling face.

His memory will be cherished by his wife, Betsy (Alexander) Garmong; father, Ralph Garmong of Kittanning; mother Barbara and husband Kenneth Mitchell of Ford City; maternal grandmother, Dorothy Bonner of Leechburg; daughter, Ashley Garmong of Vandergrift; son, Brandon Garmong of Kittanning; stepson, Duke (Michelle) Zellefrow of Ford City; stepdaughter, Alexis (Michael) Hagosky of Cranberry; sister, Marcy (Joseph) Walker of Vandergrift; niece, Lynsey Walker and nephew, Joseph Walker, Jr., both of Vandergrift; three stepgrandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Gordon was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Russell Bonner; and paternal grandparents, John and Lillian Schmela.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9PM Thursday, February 23, 2012 at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning, where a funeral service will also be held at 10AM Friday, February 24, 2012, with the Rev. John W. Snyder officiating.

Interment will be in Limestone Cemetery.
