OBIT: Delbert Baker, Jr. (West Kittanning)

Delbert Baker, Jr., 93 of West Kittanning, died Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at ACMH.

He was born June 1, 1918 in Adrian to Delbert Baker, Sr. and Phenomenal (Silvis) Baker.

Baker was an English teacher in the Armstrong School District for 41 years.

He was a member of Grace Brethren Church in West Kittanning. He enjoyed music, singing, poetry, even having a book of poetry published.

Janet is survived by his three sisters: Beatrice (Carl) Richey of West Kittanning, Gretchen (Jerry) Bull of Florida and Genevieve (Bud) Smith of West Kittanning; and eight nieces and nephews: Bill Smith, Robert and Dave Baker, Greg Mohney, Terry (Mohney) Baker, Sue (Richey) Batchelor, Sally (Richey) Dragon, Renee (Richey) Cowan and Lisa (Richey) Bauer. Delbert was very good to his nieces and nephews, especially grand-niece Ellie Dragon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: George and Stan Baker; and three sisters: Delores Mohney, Judy Greer and Esther Baker.

Per Delbert’s wishes, a private family viewing along with services was held at Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home on Thursday, officiated by the Rev. Ron Jurke.

Interment will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates.
