Clifford Ford Leard, 92, of South Buffalo Township, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, January 14, 2012 in the ACMH Hospital.
He was born November 16, 1919 in East Franklin Township, a son of Merle H. and Mary A. (Claypool) Leard.
Mr. Leard was a veteran of WWII where he served as an Army staff sergeant with the anti-aircraft 798th. He was a life-long member of the Union Baptist Church in North Buffalo Township, where he was very active. He retired from PPG Industries of Ford City and also worked as a brick/block layer with his brother Tuffy Leard.
Mr. Leard was a graduate of Freeport High School and was a member of the Worthington American Legion Post 0828. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his “sweetie and lover” (his wife Claire) with whom he was married for 65 years and his grand and great grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, M. Clair (Grafton) Leard; two daughters: LaRue (Daniel) Kaminski of Freeport, and Mary Lou (George) Edinger Jr. of Kittanning; five grandchildren: George (Julie) Edinger III, Stephanie Edinger, Joshua (Crystal) Edinger, Jeffrey Kaminski and Jeremy (Jeanine) Kaminski; seven great-grandchildren: Kyle Kaminski, Micah Kaminski, Rebecca Kaminski, Shaleigh Edinger, and Colvin Edinger; and one brother: Everett (Tuffy) Leard of Worthington.
Clifford was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert W. Leard.
Friends will be welcomed at the Welch Funeral Home in Ford City on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Additional visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 18, from 10-11AM at the Union Baptist Church, North Buffalo Township, where the service will follow at 11AM with the Reverend Jonathan Hill officiating. Interment will follow in the Lawn Haven Burial Estates.
