Kittanning Restaurant Re-Opens as ‘Clarks’ Landing’

A Kittanning restaurant re-opened its doors last week in a new location and hopes to achieve continued success.

The former owners of ‘Clarks’ Family Restaurant’ reopened July 1 as ‘Clark’s Landing’ as part of the Kit-Han-Ne Village at the intersection of South Grant Avenue and Jacob Street.

 ‘Clarks’ Family Restaurant’ was formerly at 212 Market Street until Aug. 30, 2010.

Owner Cathy Clark said she sees many familiar faces and they were happy when the restaurant re-opened at 134 S. Grant Ave. She originally hoped for the restaurant to open during the winter, but said she is still excited to see smiles.

“It’s just like a big reunion, hugging and kissing and people said ‘You’re finally open!,’ Cathy said. “I didn’t dream it would be that long, but its well worth the wait I think.”

Along with more parking availability – 41 free parking spaces – the restaurant boasts more dining options, including a soup-and-salad bar. The family hopes to expand it to include a hot buffet.

The restaurant also has outdoor dining space and offers eat-in or take-out service.

Husband Gary said the restaurant has truly become a family business.

“It’s pretty much a family affair,” Gary said. “My wife has been working in restaurants since she was a kid – her mom and brothers have worked in the restaurant business, and its kind-of a continuation of a family tradition for her. Now she has her boys involved too, which we think is great.”

The restaurant bears the family name inside-and-out as Gary and sons Andrew “AJ,” Gary, Jr. and John all work for the eatery.

Cathy started working at Valley’s Dairy when she was 15 years old.

Cathy said she is very proud to work with Village Owner Darren Stolitza.

“I feel he has a really good dream and I’m really happy to be a part of it – so excited,” Cathy said. “It can do nothing but help Kittanning.”

The restaurant can hold approximately 72 patrons, including groups.

“Clark’s Landing” is open Monday-Friday 7AM to 8PM and Saturday and Sunday 7AM-3PM until more staff members are added to the team.
