Marie M. Wilson, 94, formerly of McGrann, died Thursday, September 16, 2010, at the home of her daughter in Wayne Township.
Born August 9, 1916, in Manor Township, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Otis and Mary Etta (Reesman) Chestnut.
She worked for Arner’s Greenhouse and Ford’s Flowers. Mrs. Wilson was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ford City, where she taught Sunday school, and served on the church flower committee. She enjoyed camping, spending time with her family, and planting flowers. She also loved her dogs.
She is survived by a son, Russell (Joan) Wilson of Kittanning, a daughter, DaraLee (Joe) Mowery of Wayne Township; a daughter-in-law, Von Hankenson of Shelocta; nine grandchildren, Scott Lasher, Mark Lasher, Charlie Mowery, Pam McConnell, Rusty Wilson, Larry Wilson, Matt Wilson, Amy Hoeter, and Todd Wilson; 16 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Wilson, whom she married on July 4, 1935, and who died on December 24, 1991; a son, Alvin Wilson, a granddaughter, Lisa Wilson; five sisters, Ruth Chestnut, Florance Waltenbaugh, Wanda Chestnut, Betty Bellas, and Roberta Rosenberger; and five brothers, Robert Hurley Chestnut, Andrew Kenneth Chestnut, William Clifford Chestnut, George Chestnut, and Alvin Chestnut.
The family would like to thank Dr. Malik and his nurse, Debbie, and the V.N.A. Hospice for all the care they have given and special things they have done.
Friends will be welcomed by her family on Sunday, September 19, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., in the Welch Funeral Home in Ford City, where funeral services will be held on Monday, September 20, at 11 a.m., with Reverend James Vincent officiating. Interment will follow in Glade Run Cemetery, Dayton.
