OBIT: Carl A. McCall (Ford City)

Carl A. McCall, 83, of Ford City, died on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at his residence.

He was born in Indiana County on September 17, 1926 to Harry A. and Dollie (Cessna) McCall. He was a truck driver and lifelong resident of the area.

He served in World War II in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Grace Brethren Church in West Kittaning where he previously served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and lay pastor.  His pastime included taking long rides in the country.

Mr. McCall is survived by his wife of 62 years, Constance “Connie” (Hill) McCall of Ford City; three daughters: Susan (and Raymond) Tarr of Kittanning, Marcia McCall of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Bonnie (and John) Wingard of Kittanning; two sons: Dr. Lary (and Gladine) McCall of Warsaw, Indiana, and Stephen (and Renee) McCall of Fort Wayne, Indiana; a foster daughter: Sandra (and David) Shaner of Kittanning; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law: Mildred McCall of Marion Center.

He was preceded in death by his two brothers: George and Lloyd McCall.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 on Friday, September 10, 2010 at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning. An 11AM funeral service is planned on Saturday, September 11 at the Grace Brethren Church located at 215 Arthur Street in West Kittanning, with additional viewing from 10AM until the time of the service. Dr. Larry McCall, his son and long-time friend Pastor Richard Cornwell  will officiate the funeral service. Interment will take place in the Croyle Cemetery.
