PUZ: Football is in the Air
We are just six days away from the first NFL preseason game, which is the Hall of Fame game. I mention that it is the Hall of Fame game because this year the Steelers’ own Dick LeBeau will be inducted this year in Canton on the 7th, make sure you watch. Even though preseason doesn’t really matter to most fans, I enjoy watching preseason games, well the Steelers preseason games. I love finding one guy on the team to root for all preseason, hoping he makes the team. Last season I was rooting for running back Isaac Redman who did a great job, in my opinion, but failed to make the team. With “Fast Willie” gone this season, Redmanwill get another chance to make the team.
Big Ben was meet with a positive response from the fans at the practice field and had this to say, “Yeah. It was good. It was good to be out here. Hines (Ward) and I walked out together and they cheered pretty loud. So it was fun.” When coach Tomlin was asked about how Big Ben was received by the crowd he had this to say, “I didn’t pay attention; I was more concerned about coaching and leading the practice.” You have to love Tomlin for his honesty, but personally I’m glad that Big Ben got a positive reaction because he is going to be the Steelers’ QB when he gets back from his, hopefully four game, suspension.
On other Steelers notes, they signed veteran Flozell Adams to the team this past weekend. Adams, 6’7″ and 338 pounds, was released earlier this off season by the Dallas Cowboys. The Steelers signed first round pick Maurkice Pouncey to a five year deal, Pouncey was the last of rookies to sign his deal for Pittsburgh.
