Worthington Man Severely Injured in Motorcycle Accident

A Worthington man was severely injured in a motorcycle accident after failing to negotiate a turn and striking a residence.

According to Pennsylvania State Police reports, Thomas Michael Abell, 47, of Worthington, was traveling east on Glade Run Road in North Buffalo Township, Saturday, when he lost control of his Buell Firebolt XB12R motorcycle. Abell traveled into the oncoming lane of travel and then skidded. He then laid the motorcycle on its left side, left the roadway, and skidded into the driveway and yard of a private residence striking shrubs and an embankment. Abell also struck a cement retaining wall and the 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo belonging to the owner that was parked in the driveway of the residence.

Abell sustained severe injuries and was flown to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment. His motorcycle also received severe damage.
