Lace up your shoes and zip up your coat craft-lovers; because after six weeks of preparing the shop for opening, Old Country Findings had its grand opening this past Friday at 107 North McKean Street in downtown Kittanning.

“We’ve actually been pretty busy,” said Owner Brian Law of West Kittanning. “People have been walking by, and we are getting a lot of traffic here with people looking in.”

LEFT: The shades were raised last Friday at 107 North McKean Street to unveil a new shoppe in town, featuring primitive and country one-of-a-kind items.

According to Law, the gift shop is selling primitive, nautical, country, and lodge items including linens, framed prints, wreaths, pillows, candles, lamps, punched tinware, hand-dipped bulbs, and gift baskets.

“We have been doing festivals for about four years now, and Kittanning needed a gift shop,” said Law. “We make some of the items ourselves, but not all of them. Some items are unique, one-of-a-kind items.”

Law and his assistants were sure to keep the blinds closed while they were renovating the shop. “We had to build the displays and paint everything,” he said.

So, if you see a colorful flag that says “open” outside of a shop on North McKean Street this week, be sure to stop in and see what’s new.
