KLINE: Misconception in Perception

Warning! the following contains common sense ideas, as well as content supportive of the United States Constitution……… Progressivist discretion is advised.

There are people in this country who are of the opinion that government’s role is to protect the American people. If protection meant non-interference with the lives of the American people and stay with their role of setting constitutional laws, levying taxation of representation, spending responsibly, and keeping a strong defense, then I would totally agree with that opinion in this context.

However, I’m afraid that is not their implication. It amazes me how the government wishes to do even more, when they can barley maintain the responsibilities just given.

In accordance, we find that our little friends in Washington have just passed the proposed jobs bill through the Senate and is now on its way to the House of Representatives. It is their plan that increased massive spending for the purpose of creating short-lived jobs on spring construction is what is needed for the healing of the economy. They would also give tax breaks to those who hired the unemployed. Although I am one who is for government giving tax cuts, I believe that tax breaks in this manner are a mistake.

Now I know that I am not an expert in economics, but you can’t encourage economic healing with overwhelming deficit spending. It’s true that the enacting of this bill could render some hope to Americans, but the enormous deficits, lowering of our currency, and the higher taxes that will come as a result of this will not be enough to heal the economy. We also find, in this bill, that it was not only Democrats who voted for such a credit exhausting bill, it was also 16 Republicans.

Drunk sailors call these people irresponsible spenders, yet they think they can heal our economy. The President would count the jobs bill as a political victory for his administration. So do you still think governments there to protect us?
