PUZ: Super Bowl Sunday

Sports Commentary by Chad Puz

We are just two days away from a American holiday, which will have two top offenses and a showcase of commercial that will be remembered for years to come. Even though the Steelers aren’t playing in the big game this year, there is no doubt in my mind that this will be an incredible game that has a chance to be the highest scoring game in Super Bowl history. For those of you wondering the highest scoring Super Bowl game was SB 29 where the Chargers beat the Bills 49-26. I think this years Super Bowl has more of a chance of being close game.

On one hand you have one of the best quarterbacks of our time, maybe ever in the sport with Peyton Manning. Manning has been elected ten times to the Pro Bowl in his 12 year career, won a record four MVP awards, has ten seasons with at least 4,000 yards passing, averages ten(close to 11) wins a season, he was the first quarterback to beat all 31 teams, finally won a Super Bowl in 2006(by the way, was named the MVP of the game), and that is just to name a few of his many records. Then you have Drew Brees who has become a leader of Saints since coming over from the Chargers in 2006. Last season Drew fell just 16 yards shy of breaking Dan Marino’s single season passing record,  Brees threw for 5,069 yards, a record Marino set back in 1984. Brees has also been named to four Pro Bowls, in 2004 he was named the come back player of the year, in 2006 he was named Co-Walter Peyton Man of the year with LaDainian Tomlinson, and in 2008 was named the Offensive Player of the year.

Past records won’t mean a thing this Sunday, all that matters is what you do when you are on the biggest stage in football, and only one team can win. With all of that said, I see Peyton winning his second Super Bowl of the decade in a shootout 42-38 and him being named the MVP of the game.
