OBIT: Darl D. Sheasley

Darl D. Sheasley, 62, of Kittanning Township, died Sunday, January 24, 2010, at his home.

Born March 25, 1947 in Plumcreek Township, he was a son of the late Ervin and Josephine (Miller) Sheasley.

A veteran of the United States Army, he served during the Vietnam War.

He was the owner and operator of Sheasley’s Garage, and was also employed by Schultheis Roofing.

Mr. Sheasley was Lutheran by faith.

He enjoyed Nascar, gardening, spending time with his grandchildren, and spending time at his garage with friends.

He is survived by his wife, Marvel (Eldridge) Sheasley; his daughter, Jill (Randy) Snowberger of East Freedom, Becky (John) Swanson, who was like a daughter to him; two grandchildren, Brendan and Benjamin Swanson; four sisters, Arlene (Delone) Wingard of Elderton, Ruth (Glenn) Geidel of Kittanning Township, Inez (Donald) Townsend of Shelocta, and Alda Culp of Elderton; five brothers, James (Josie) Sheasley of Ridgeway, Floyd (Anna Marie) Sheasley of Irwin, Dale (Donna) Sheasley of Tyrone, Russell (Nadine) Sheasley of Shelocta, and David (Patty) Sheasley of Shelocta; 28 nieces and nephews; and 47 great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Harriet (Blystone) Sheasley, and five nephews.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, January 26, 2010, from 7-9PM and on Wednesday, January 27, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Welch Funeral Home, 1032 Fourth Avenue, Ford City, where funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 28 at 11AM. Reverend Joan Armstrong will officiate. The Armstrong County Legion Honor Guard will accord military honors at the funeral home immediately after services. Interment will be private.
