Davis Consulting to Sponsor Coffee and Donut Sessions

Davis Consulting will begin holding Coffee & Donut Sessions from 9-10AM at the Armstrong County Educational Trust beginning January 27.

Admission is free for the one-hour sessions which are held on Wednesday mornings. The sessions are intended to introduce small businesses and employees to specific aspects of computer technology and automation. There will also be a special emphasis on Microsoft Office 2007.

Michele Cogley, a Microsoft Office instructor with Lenape Tech, facilitates the sessions.

“We did them this past fall, and they went fairly well,” she said. “It’s a new program that is just starting, so it is finding a niche where people are interested in the different topics.”

Cogley is currently in the process of receiving her certification as a Microsoft Office Trainer.

On January 27, the sessions will kick off with the topic of Feasibility Study. This will include a free spreadsheet designed by Davis Consulting used to determine if automation would help a business save money and improve productivity.

The session on February 10 will be an introduction to PowerPoint designed to make creating presentations easier.

On February 24, the topic of discussion will be Word and the References Tab. Information during this session will include inserting footnotes, citations, captions, a table of figures, and a table of indexes that can all be organized and inserted into Microsoft Office Word documents.

The subject of the March 10 session will be Setting User Preferences in Microsoft Office 2007. Information from this session will help attendees personalize Microsoft Office by adding tools to the Quick Access Toolbar.

Creating charts in Microsoft Excel will be covered during the March 24 session. This will help participants to convert data into easy-to-read and visually appealing charts.

The final session, which will be held on April 7, will be dedicated to creating photo slideshows using Microsoft PowerPoint. During this session, attendees will learn how to create photo slideshows in order to promote a business as a marketing tool or for personal use. Features such as creating automatic transitions with audio will be discussed. “The first photo slideshow I created was for my parents’ 40thwedding anniversary. I’m also making slideshows for business use such as advertising and website publishing,” said Cogley.
