Activity Buses Available at ASD Secondary Schools
The Armstrong School District began offering afterschool activity buses at all secondary schools in October, and the district continues to do so as the school winter sports season begins.
The activity buses will take students home after their afternoon or evening school activities or sports practices.
For the winter sports season, these are the following pickup times at each secondary school:
Ford City Jr-Sr High School: 5:15 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.
Kittanning Junior High School: 4:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m.
Kittanning Senior High School: 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
West Shamokin Jr-Sr High School: 5:30 p.m., 7:15 p.m., and 9:15 p.m.
The buses will not run on holidays. They will, however, operate on teacher in-service days.
Armstrong School District began operating the activity buses district-wide in October as a service to students and families.
“The activity bus program has been well-received at West Shamokin Jr-Sr High School with more than 60 students riding each day on a regular basis,” said Mr. Charles Pepper, Director of Student Transportation. “Kittanning and Ford City ridership was not as high, initially, but it is hoped that numbers will increase during the winter sports season as parents and students become aware of the service.”
Students or parents are asked to contact their school principal’s office to register for the activity buses, and also to get specific details about the bus runs.
